Africa

Dispatches from a Fragile Continent

Blaine Harden

Journalist Blaine Harden reveals the darker, unsightly picture of Africa which is beginning to emerge in the media.

“This is an extraordinary and frightening book. Blaine Harden evokes with passion, argument, and fabulous stories the destruction of Africa at the end of the millenium. He is a superb reporter and writer-Africa: Dispatches from a Fragile Continent is a tour de force” William Shawcross

Note: From 1985 to 1989, Blaine Harden was bureau chief for the ‘Washington Post’ in sub-Saharan Africa. Born in the state of Washington, he received his masters degree in newspaper journalism from Syracuse University. He won the Livingston Award for feature writing in 1987. He is now East European bureau chief for the ‘Washington Post’, based in Poland.

This is not only a fascinating book, full of insightful information, it is also difficult to find. It is in almost new condition despite its age although it does have some expected wear and tear, this being minor. It is an attractive book and a collectors’ gem
